My Favorite Room

April 26, 2023 Margaux Fuller

Wow! I can't believe it has been over a year and a half since I’ve written a post. I love coming back to this happy little place I call my blog.

A lot has happened over the past year. From new jobs to new homes…life is a crazy ride! We are finally feeling a sense of normalcy after a hectic year and I am so excited to share a tiny slice of what we’ve been up to.

The boys are pretty much adults now! (kidding…but they are 4!) and they are just as sweet and crazy and active as ever.

We sold our beloved duplex in April of last year and bought a new house. It was very hard to say goodbye to that place. The first house we ever bought, the house we brought the kids home to, our amazing backyard and all of the memories that were made there. It was a very good home to us. Even though it was sad, the timing felt right to move on to the next chapter in our lives. We love our new home!

We bought a house on the other side of town in September and we finally moved in mid-november. It’s an older home and everything needed painted (thanks, dad!). There is still work we would like to do and that needs to be done but for right now, we are feeling really good to be in this place.

Which brings me to my favorite room in the house…the front living room. This house is over double the size of our last one, I couldn’t imagine having more than one living space!

I love coming into this room to read, listen to music or play with the kids. It faces south and gets the most amazing sunlight…my lemon tree really thrives in this room. We didn’t get much natural light in the duplex so having these big windows in the front has been welcoming.

We spend a lot of time in this room. It makes me happy! I hope to share more of our home with you soon.

xoxo

Toddler Room + Dresser Organization

March 4, 2021 Margaux Fuller
Toddler room + Dresser Organization | Forever Fuller

Last March, I shared the boys’ bedroom & how I organized their dresser. It has become one of my most read & shared blog posts so I figured it was time to do a little update! Their room has changed a lot in a year, mainly the addition of big boy beds! Here is the link to my previous post if you’d like to read about how their room was before: The Boys’ Room + Dresser Organization.

I’m planning on sharing how we transitioned them to their beds in another post, but we knew it was time to make the switch when they started climbing out of their cribs. I tried to “toddler proof” the room as much as I could, but having the large dresser in their room was not safe anymore so we had to rearrange a bit!

This is how their room currently looks! The beds take up a lot of space so there isn’t anything else in the room except for a small hamper (one for each boy) that stores their stuffed animals. It’s better this way because this room actually stays pretty clean. We don’t have any toys in here (except for the stuffed animals) & with their Beddy’s bedding, the beds keep nice & tidy as well.

I feel like I have to explain the plexiglass covering their window 😂 We have replaced the blinds in this room three different times (they just love to tear them apart!). This gave us the ability to keep the blinds intact since we need them to be closed during nap time. Also, we are still able to open them for sunlight when the boys are not sleeping. We had curtains hanging in here before, but those got torn down, too! (Literally ripped out of the walls!) These boys are crazy, I tell ya.

We moved their large, white dresser to our master room and moved a smaller dresser that I was using into their closet. This has worked perfectly for us!

I hang all of their shirts, jackets, overalls & sweaters. Everything else gets folded & placed in the dresser. Pajamas, underwear & socks go in the first drawer, pants & shorts go in the second drawer & blankets fill the third drawer. I still love using these storage cubes to organize their clothes because they fit so perfectly in their dresser. I started using them for my clothes, too!

Since I can’t write a post without including the stars of this blog…here are some pictures of the sweetest little guys!

The Boys' Room + Dresser Organization

I thought it was about time to show the boys’ room again! If you didn't see their nursery tour, you can read about it here! I also thought I would share with you how I organize their dresser.

Dresser organization:

I started using these storage cubes from Ikea when I was pregnant & putting together the nursery, they are great for organizing baby clothes & fit in the dresser perfectly.

The top four smaller drawers hold their pajamas, onesies/shirts & socks.

The two middle drawers hold pants, blankets & sheets/mattress protectors. The boys don’t use swaddles anymore, but I had to keep a few of my favorite ones from when they were little! I feel like they might come in handy to use as light blankets when we go for walks.

The bottom two drawers hold diaper genie refills & blankets. We received so many lovely, handmade blankets when the boys were little! We love them all & like to have them easily accessible.

Their closet holds their sweaters, jackets & all of the clothing that is too big for them.

Now onto their room!  Not a ton has changed in their room. We moved their cribs, removed a few things & added more toys. Wyatt & Boden actually use this room to play in now, it’s so sweet watching them play!

The majority of the upstairs toys are kept in their closet. I love the Kallax units from Ikea, they are great for storing toys! Stuffed animals go in a basket & they have a few bigger toys scattered throughout the room (a trike, an activity cube, etc.)

Getting rid of their changing pad means more room for books! These are all of their books that have paper pages & can be easily ripped. They have access to all of their board books, which are either downstairs in their play area or in their room on a low bookshelf.

They have a little reading nook set up with a couple of chairs & a bookshelf. They love to climb up into these chairs & grab books from the shelf! The bookshelf & chairs are from Ikea.

We enjoy spending time playing in their bedroom. When they wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is change them & then we play before going downstairs for breakfast. Call me crazy, but I can’t help but imagine what their room will evolve into as they get older. I even caught myself looking at “big boy” beds online…?!?!? It’s definitely not time for that yet, but it’s fun to look!
