Twins are Five Months + Daily Routine

April 25, 2019 Margaux Fuller
Twins are Five Months Old + Daily Routine | Forever Fuller

It’s hard to believe that our little twinnies are five months old!  The last five months have been an absolute joy & have gone by way too fast.

Wyatt & Boden have been sleeping in their own cribs (in the nursery) for almost two weeks now.  It could not be going any better!  We usually put them to bed between 9-10pm & they have no problem sleeping through the night (when we are at home).

We’ve also been having a set nap time where they will sleep in their cribs.  Before we started doing this, they would sleep for 10-20 minutes randomly throughout the day & at different times…it just wasn’t working well for us!  They would end up being cranky in the evening & not getting the sleep they needed during the day.  Now, I try to put them down for their naps around 12:30pm & they usually sleep until 3…sometimes even 4!  Not only is it a good thing for them, but it has been great for me to have some time to shower, eat, wash bottles…or even take a nap myself ;)

Our pediatrician gave us the go ahead at their four month appointment to start giving them solid foods, so we have been slowly introducing them.  The boys aren’t too sure how they feel about “real” food yet!

Since Sean works during the week, it’s just me & the boys most days!  Here is a look at what a typical day looks like:

6:20am - before Sean leaves for work, he will make bottles & bring the boys into our bed so that we can feed them together.  When they’re done eating, they go straight back to bed!

8:00am - I will usually get out of bed & eat/shower before the boys wake up.

9-9:30am - The boys wake up.  I’ll change & feed them again…then we play!  Lately, we’ve been getting out of the house during this time & the boys have been doing so well!

12:30pm - I will start to get them ready for their naps…changing, feeding, stories, swaddles. I will turn on lullabies (we use the hatch baby rest sound machine or CDs my mom made for them) & they will go down pretty easily.  During this time I will catch up on housework, make sure I get something to eat, maybe nap or watch some TV ;)

3-4pm - the twins start to wake up.  Usually, they want to be fed right away! I feed & change them then we play some more!

6-7pm - Sean gets home around this time.  The boys love seeing him after work!  We eat dinner & play with our boys.

9-10pm - bedtime! If they need baths, we will bathe them right before bed.  Bedtime routine is just like nap time except we always make sure they wear their Owlet monitors at night!

...then we do it all again the next day! 😅

It’s a pretty repetitive day.  To some, it might even seem boring!  But this is what works for us during this season of life & I wouldn’t have it any other way.

xoxo

I’ve just been informed by my three year-olds that they want their bedroom walls painted black. I’m kind of into it! I think Sean will need some convincing, though 😅🖤 they are threenagers, for sure!
