Kids Halloween Bookshelf

It’s no secret that we love Halloween over here. In fact, you don’t have to scroll very far to see the boys’ Halloween playroom from TWO YEARS AGO! 🤦‍♀️ which is practically the last blog I posted. You can check it out here if you are interested in a little flashback!

The kids’ bookshelf in the playroom at our old house was one of their favorite parts of the room. I didn’t know this until recently when Boden said something about it to me.

In their new playroom, they didn’t have any bookshelves hanging on the wall like they did before. Instead, I had just been using a crate/basket to hold their holiday books for each season. One day, Boden came to me and said “mom, remember our bookshelves at our old house that we would decorate? I miss those.” Say no more! We went to IKEA a few days later and picked up some shelves. The first holiday we got to decorate for was Halloween!

I love all of the little things we collect/create over the years to make this space extra festive. Books, buckets, stuffies, garlands, haunted house…so fun! But I will say, I’m looking forward to decorating this space for Thanksgiving.

I don’t think I’ve ever shared them before, so here are some photos of some “holiday book nooks” we had at our old house! You can also find a list of all the Halloween books we have here.

Halloween Playroom

We switched our guest room to the the boys’ playroom almost a year ago, but this is the first time I have decorated it for a holiday. Halloween is so fun to decorate for! The bats, the glitter, the spooks & the books! I love it all. The boys do, too! I love how much they love Halloween.

We’ve added some new books to our Halloween collection this year. I will share a list of all of our books at the end of this post, but some of our new favorites are “Pick a Pumpkin” & “B is for Boo.” Both of these books have gorgeous illustrations. In “B is for Boo” all of the pictures have a vintage feel/look to them, which I think makes it extra fun to look at!

I like to do crafts/art projects as much as I can with the kids. They painted some “spooky” pictures, complete with glitter and Halloween stickers that we hung on the walls. I also picked up some plain wooden decor pieces to paint. Wyatt chose a jack-o-lantern & Boden picked the skull.

We, of course, had to hang up some paper bats! These are the same bats we used last year. With the bats, the boys’ artwork & some festive garlands thrown about, the room looks pretty spooktacular & ready for Halloween :) we really enjoy spending our time in here!
