34 Weeks Pregnant with Twins

November 23, 2018 Margaux Fuller
34 Weeks Pregnant with Twins | Forever Fuller

This week has been crazy! First, at our ultrasound, we learned the babies are 5 lbs 7 ozs & 4 lbs 12 ozs!  They are doing so well & everything looked great.  The doctor told me that I need to deliver by 38 weeks & that we would not be scheduling anymore ultrasounds through the clinic.

We also had our birthing center tour this week.  Sean was already familiar with the facility because he had a rotation there during nursing school, but it was really nice for me to see the rooms & to learn what the hospital provides for us during our stay.  The rooms are HUGE!

We were scheduled for our 35 week appointment on Wednesday, but ended up not making it. On Tuesday night, I decided to take my blood pressure while we were at the grocery store to see if it was still high. It was definitely high...higher than it had ever been. We took it a couple more times and it was still high, so we decided to go to L&D at 10pm that night, just to be on the safe side.

The next few hours were extremely stressful for me. I didn’t think anything major was going on because I felt fine & I just wanted to go in to make sure the babies were doing well.

The doctor said I had preeclampsia and started talking to me about how I wanted to deliver: vaginally or c-section. I was freaking out to say the least because I was so not ready to think about that or to deliver babies. She checked my cervix & said I was 1cm dilated, 50% effaced & that she could feel baby A’s head.  They were telling us that the babies could be here in 1-3 days if the preeclampsia worsened.

i was admitted so they could keep me for monitoring. My blood pressure got better, labs were all good (except for the protein in my urine) & my swelling even seemed to go down a little. I did not need to receive any meds through my IV, but they did give me two rounds of steroid shots to help the babies lungs develop. The babies did amazing the whole time we were there! They kept me from 10pm Tuesday night until 10am Thursday morning, just in time for Thanksgiving!  I was so happy to get discharged! Thank goodness for Sean, he is truly a saint.

Because of the preeclampsia, we will not be going past 37 weeks. That means baby boys will be here in two weeks or less! I am placed on modified bedrest & cannot drive. I pray that everything continues to go well & they will stay in there a little longer. I just need to take it easy & listen to my doctors.

How far along: 34 weeks

Genders: BOYS

Total weight gain:  48 lbs

Maternity clothes: Wearing the usual leggings, tank & sweatpants around the house.  I only “get dressed” if I know I’m going somewhere 😂

Stretch marks: Still none

Sleep: I’m getting used to running on no sleep!

Best moment this week: Leaving the hospital & getting able to spend Thanksgiving with family.

Worst moment this week: Going to the hospital, not feeling ready to deliver the babes.

Movement: It’s getting a little more difficult to distinguish between which one is moving, it’s getting pretty tight in there!  They are most active in the evening. They are definitely active when hooked up to monitors & are always trying to kick them off.

Cravings: None

Queasy or sick: Overall, feeling good.  As good as I can be! Just getting really uncomfortable.

Labor signs: Apparently I’ve been having contractions but haven’t been feeling them. I hope labor isn’t too near!

Belly button in or out: Out

Wedding rings on or off: Off. Still wearing my silicone ring in place of my originals.

Happy or moody: Nervous/anxious are better words to describe this week

Looking forward to: Maybe deciding on names? I feel like the pressure is on!! I also feel like they won’t be named until they get here…but having a short list might be good :)

33 Weeks Pregnant with Twins

I had my first weekly NST (non-stress test) to monitor the babies. They did so good! They are crazy little things, though. Baby A was still head down & baby B had switched from being transverse to being breech. The babies looked great, but my blood pressure was a little higher than it has been. The doctor wasn’t too concerned, but it’s something to be aware of.

I was kind of dreading going to the NST, but it was a lot better than I thought it’d be! It didn't take as long as they said it would & I was so entertained by the babes that it seemed to go by really fast. Plus, I got the reassurance that they are doing okay in there! I’m so glad that Sean was able to work from home that day so he could go with me.

It’s been a crazy week, so this is the best bump pic I could do.

How far along: 33 weeks

Best moment this week: Spending time with family over the weekend

Worst moment this week: My first baby, Miesha, not feeling well :(

32 Weeks Pregnant with Twins

It’s time for another update!  This week, I finished gathering all of the things for our hospital bags.  Now, I just need to get it packed & put in the car!  I also ordered the boys’ coming home outfits…I can’t wait until they get here!

Since last week, my swelling has continued.  When we went to the hospital, the doctor didn’t seem concerned about preeclampsia because all of my tests turned out normal.  It is something that I’m definitely going to address with my OB at our appointment tomorrow, though.

This week especially, I’ve been noticing how big I’m getting (not just in the belly, but everywhere) which has been very difficult for me.  I know that it’s for good reason & I would gain any amount of weight for these babies, but that doesn’t make looking in the mirror (or at pictures!) any easier.  Look how cute Miesha is though 😊 I think she will be a great big sister!

How far along: 32 weeks

Genders: BOYS

Total weight gain: I haven’t weighed myself this week…I’ll wait for my doctors appointment to see the damage 😂

Maternity clothes: No new maternity clothes lately.  I did, however, get some comfy sweatpants, sweatshirt & granny panties to pack in my hospital bag for after delivery.

Stretch marks: Nope!

Sleep: Same ol’ same ol’

Best moment this week: My mom & dad coming over & visiting/helping with a nursery project.  Also, Sean surprised me last night with a new computer 😭 love him so much.

Worst moment this week: Continued swelling, making it hard to walk.  My feet are so big that I had to go out & buy some new, stretchy shoes (with no laces 🤣) in a bigger size than normal.

Movement: Little cuties love to roll around

Cravings: Starbucks peppermint hot chocolate

Queasy or sick: No sickness! I finally feel like I’m getting over my cold after what seems like forever.

Labor signs: Nada

Belly button in or out: Out

Wedding rings on or off: Still rockin’ my silicone ring

Happy or moody: …moody

Looking forward to: Our 33 week appointment tomorrow
